Holy moley. I can't believe it. She is just growing up so fast. I have started to think about her 1st birthday party. That is unbelievable to me. It seems like only yesterday that I was shoveling snow so we could get to the hospital! I know I didn't post a 7 month update (it came and went before I realized:)) but here is some news: she says "Mama"! Yes! It is too cute. So that brings us up to 3 words "dada, baba, and mama". She babbles a lot thought. She just started to "army crawl" so that is pretty exciting but reminds me that I have to re-baby proof the house. She is STUBBORN beyond belief and lets me know it every day. Today she just woke up plain cranky. I mean my god she is 8 months old! If I could guess she is about 17lbs and is very long like Matthew was. She seems very happy and loves her brother. We are going to have her eyes checked again next Friday so I will update on the prognosis. We probably really won't know for sure how much she can/can't see until she can verbalize it but we know she can see. Also, a proud moment for me: I finally sleep trained her! It was time to put the ol' foot down and make her sleep through the night! I received a lot of good and much needed advice. It was ridiculous that she was waking up 2 times to eat. So I just let her cry it out and she is like a new baby. She sleeps during the day better, eats better everything! It was tough but Chris and I needed it! Anyway, here are some updated pictures.

PS She also claps but it is funny because she brings her right hand to her left! So cute:)

Matthew's Surgery

When Matthew was born, his belly button didn't close off all of the way. We have known for quite some time that we would probably have to have it operated on since it can be dangerous to leave it open (I won't go into details). But I have been nervous to have the surgery. Although Chris told me it was no big deal, the though of putting him under made me so nervous. Well, our pediatrician (I know I have mentioned that I LOVE him and his office) said it was time so we made the appointment. Everyone at Sacred Heart (the same place Maggie was born) was AMAZING and made me feel right at home. It was a simple procedure that only took 20 minutes, but it was the anaesthetic that was more of the process. After we settled in I wasn't so nervous and then they gave Matthew the Versed. This is the stuff that makes him not remember what happened and has the effect of being drunk. Chris and I were cracking up at him because the normal wild man was relaxed and calm:) We had to video it because it was just too funny. I know it is a big grainy because it was with Chris' blackberry but it is pretty cute. He made it through just fine and is acting like nothing even happened! Whew, glad to have that over with:)

Swinging

Since Matthew was born, I wanted to put a swing set in our back yard. I was so happy when we were able to make that a reality this summer. Matthew loves playing on it, especially when he has friends come over, but now Maggie is just big enough to swing! The other night, Matthew wanted to go swing so I put Maggie on the baby swing and we sat out there for a half and hour just swinging and having a great time. Maggie loved it and Matthew had so much fun finally getting a push. I got some cute pictures of them out there and Maggie looks so tiny compared:)

No Power, No Problem!

Today was one of those day where I didn't have much planned but to relax and clean out the car. Well thank goodness because our power went out at 11:15 am and didn't come back on for 5 hours! Luckily, it wasn't a total scorcher today because we played outside all day with our neighbors, rode bikes and had otter pops. I had been meaning to catch up with my neighbor, Kelli, for a week now so it was the perfect opportunity to sit and chat on the lawn while the kids played. I went to take a quick shower (assuming the water would be cold) and told Matthew to just play while I showered (usually he watches a quick show and Maggie was asleep). Well much to my delight the power came on right as I stepped in so it was warm and when I got out, it was unusually quiet...I came downstairs to find Matthew sacked out on the couch!!! I guess all the playing wore him out! It was so cute so I had to take a picture. Thanks for the great day Kelli, Olivia and Nolan!

Palm Springs 2009

Myself and the bride Amy.

I went to Palm Springs this weekend for some much needed R&R! It was for one of my best friend's bachelorette party. We had such a great time laying in the sun (112*), drinking and just chatting. I slept in, lounged around and totally rejuvenated! It was so nice to get away and remind myself that I am Siri first, mom second! (Sometimes I forget:)) Chris stayed with the kids and was super dad! He got Maggie to take a bottle and woke up with her. I was so proud of him and thankful that I could have this time away to be with friends!!!
