A Poker Themed Cake

This is for a guy so I wanted to make it "manly"! I did a red velvet recipe but dyed it green instead. I used cream cheese frosting and then covered it in fondant. I suspected the cream cheese frosting (although tastes DIVINE) wouldn't harden enough for the fondant and I was correct. At least I learned though. Anyway, I thought it turned out pretty cute!
Addendum: After finishing the cake and letting it cool in the refrigerator, I came up to check on it. I found a hole on the green part to the left. After prodding dear sweet Matthew, I realized he had wanted to try the cake and stuck his finger in it! I was so steaming mad but then I composed myself and put a royal flush in fondant on that part so it covered it up! The person the cake was for, thought it was HILARIOUS (Thanks Stefanie) and didn't mind. Ahhhh even Duff has these problems right?!

Palm Springs: Friends, Drinks, Gays and Grays:)

Palm Springs is fast becoming one of my favorite places to vacation. It is warm, the people are amazing and it is just a quaint little place that is not too far but just far enough. I went this weekend for my friend, Karen's 30th birthday party! It was a girl's only weekend and Chris was great and stayed with the kids while I had a much needed break. We laid by the pool, drank too much:) and just chatted with each other, while meeting some great people. We joke that Palm Springs is all about the gays and grays (if you have been there you know!!!) and I love it! Can't wait to go back to the Riveria where we stayed! Here are some highlights.

PS I know many of the pictures look the same. Let's just chalk it up to too many drinks and trying to get the best picture possible for facebook!!! haha

A Different Spiderman Cake

This cake was fun because the birthday boy was very specific that he wanted a "scene" of spider man. I really wanted to try something 3D and with Chris' help, we constructed some buildings out of cereal treats. Chris even helped me with his dental training by using Ortho wire to tie the feet so the characters would stand up!!! I even got to use my new favorite tip:) (the grass one). I love it when I am given some details but allowed to let my imagination roam!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Making his Valentine Box.
He wrote his own name!

Eating the treats.

His "girl friend", Katie
Katie's little sister, Maggie. (yes totally crazy same age!!!)

My Maggie being naughty as usual!!!

Craft time.

Summer, Matthew's friend, Lily's sister.
I made up for the lack of pictures last weekend by taking a TON today at Matthew's Valentine's Day Party at school. He was so excited and made out all of his Valentines (there is nine kids in his class!) They had some treats and then made a craft. It was really fun to be there and fun to see Miss Maggie climbing all around. I think the teacher knows what she is in for in a couple of years! It just warms my heart to see his enthusiasm for it all. I am thinking back to a year ago...we took away the binky. I can't even believe that was a year ago! I have been freaking out a little lately because Matthew is going to be 4. I still can't believe it. He is getting so big and really funny (although sometimes annoying and sassy). He is such a sweetie and when I tell him he is my favorite boy he says "Mom, I love you and you are my favorite boy too!" Ahhh my heart is melting...

Sorry no pictures:( Just updates!

I had all good intentions of taking some pictures this weekend but I didn't. (Bad Siri) I do have some updated news so here goes:

-I have officially hit the 15 lb mark! Considering I had 2 parties this weekend both of which consisted of food and alcohol that is pretty darn good! So happy.
-I went to Seattle this weekend for my best friend's engagement party. It was really fun and nice to meet some more family and friends that I hadn't met. On Saturday, we did some bridesmaid dress shopping which was fun. We think we may have found the dress but we are thinking it over!
-Chris and Matthew didn't get to come to Seattle because Matthew had the stomach flu and we didn't want to drive with him. I was going to go by myself but my mother talked me into bringing Maggie. I remember now why you don't sit on an airplane with a 14 month old. She was so mad because she wanted to roam everywhere. God Bless the patient woman who sat beside us on the way there. On the way back, it was better because the plane was only 1/2 full so we got our own row! My parents had a blast with Maggie but my poor mother woke up with the stomach flu this morning...oops hope it wasn't from us:(
-Chris and I have officially started our training for the Windermere 1/2 marathon May 15th! I am actually very excited. We have never done anything like this before so it will be really fun. I guess Bloomsday is going to be just another run for us this year!!! I am trying to convince him to do the Seattle 1/2 marathon in the fall. I have to say that it is definitely easier to run 15 lbs lighter!
-The countdown to Vegas is on!!! Chris and I are going to the WCC tournament in March! YESSSSSS! My parents are coming over to watch the kids. We are so excited. In other great basketball news: this fall Chris bought tickets to the 1st round of the NCAA tournament in Spokane for fun. Well if the Zags keep playing well, they might be put here!!!!! Hell Yah how cool would that be!

Anyway, sorry that I don't have any pictures but I did want to put some tidbits of information. I will take some soon. I do have another cake coming up!

Seahawk's Cake

The Seahawk Logo and the football are fondant. The rest is buttercream.

I got this cool new tip that looks like grass. I love it! (FYI D. This will be the tip for RC's cake)

This is the newest cake. It was commissioned by the same person who asked for the first Toy Story cake. Wow repeat customers already;) It was for a 11 year old girl who loves the Seahawks. Happy Birthday!!
