Maggie's ABC's!

For those of you not on Facebook, I uploaded this very adorable video of Maggie singing her ABC's and spelling her name!  You may have to turn down my music at the bottom to hear her.  She just cracks me up.  It is fun seeing the difference between her and Matthew.  I think being the 2nd child and a girl, she wants to do EVERYTHING Matthew does which is both awesome and annoying.  Willi and Margaret have been singing her the ABC's in the car when she goes over there on Friday's so she is getting a lot of practice:)

De-Clutter Updates!

I have successfully cleaned out the bathroom today!  I have been needing to go through my drawers and the shower caddy was getting a little nasty so I bought a new one:)  I have to say that I am very proud of Christopher.  He went through his side of the bed and threw away 99.9% of the stuff.  I don't think he lets it build up because he is lazy.  I think he is so OCD that it just gets to be overwhelming for him.  I helped him but putting all the books in the book case and from there it seemed more manageable for him to go through.  It makes a huge difference.  Not only in appearance but because he is really allergic to dust so you can imagine all the dust in there:)

Happy Birthday Agatha!

Last night, we celebrated Agatha's 28th birthday with a little family dinner.  She insisted on cooking it and bringing it over for us to share...ok, I will not argue:)  I offered to bake a cake and she requested red velvet.  That flavor has been very popular lately which is good because I have a kick a$$ recipe!!  I decorated it all up for her.  I really can't believe that she is 28.  I know that is not that much younger than I am, but I remember when she was 17!  (Yes, we have been together THAT long!)  Crazy how time flies...

Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone:)  I know it is a day late but whatever right?!  Anyway, this has never really been a huge deal at our house.  Chris and I were married on 2/28/04 so we prefer to celebrate that day instead!  Less people out and about and flowers are not so expensive!!!  I made some sweet treats and cooked one of our favorite meals.  We call it birthday pasta because Chris always wants it on his birthday and really that is all you should eat it is once a year!  Anyway, here are a couple pictures of the lovely evening we had.  Hope you had a great day too!

Lesson Learned

I always try to learn something from every cake that I make good or bad.  In all honesty, I really love every cake that I have ever made even if I don't end up "liking" it.  I know that may sound confusing but a piece of me has gone into every cake and every cake was made for somebody with love, even if it didn't turn out exactly the way I'd like it to.  I am not trying to get all philosophical about cake but the one I just made kind of made me think about it a little.  I was coming off of the pac man cakes which turned out so awesome!  I was given pretty much free reign to make my goddaughter, Charlotte's, first birthday cake.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do and had it pictured in my head and let's just say it kind of went down hill from there!  Don't get me wrong, I actually think it turned out really great, it is just that I had many issues with it!  Starting with the structural problems...note to self: don't stack that much cake without a horizontal support.  I thought I was safe with a pvc pipe up the center...not so much.  The more decorations I added (which added weight) the more it sank.  Also, the damn handle.  I can see why I didn't do so well in physics:)  That handle was actually plan c.  Thank god for floral wire!  The spout started out looking like the turkey neck from the Grinch cake (Laura you know what I mean:)...) but with some adjusting, it looked like a spout in the end.  I know that Sarah (Charlotte's mom) will be happy tomorrow, I guess it just got me thinking about life and "structural integrity".  Here I am getting all philosophical again.  I think it is time for bed...good night!

So Sorry...

I really have been MIA haven't I?  I kind of have a mish mash of stuff to report on.  Starting with "project declutter 2011!"  It has been going quite well.  My garage doesn't think so, and I will admit some spots are still slow going but I think it is going well so that is all that matters.  Sometimes to truly clean something out, you have to rearrange which can seem like there is no progress but there is!

We also made a trip over to Seattle.  It was the first time since Thanksgiving that we had been back and it felt good to be there.  Especially since we didn't have to pack the pack n' play!  Yay!  What a momentous occasion.  Maggie slept in a big girl bed and Matthew slept with me!  Haha oh well. 

I had a cake due this weekend.  It was a pacman and mrs pacman for a woman who was turning 40 but also had survived breast cancer twice last year.  It was so much fun to do and bring out my inner 80's!  It was sad because Matthew asked me what it was...oh well! 

Terese and Katie came over for the weekend.  It was really fun and they were a huge help with the kids.  Always a lot of wine consumption that my body is mad at me for today, but it was well worth it!  So good to see those girls and catch up on life, do some shopping and eat pot stickers.  (Yes, I made those two pot stickers!!)

Last, since I know for a fact that Ms. Amy Moran reads my blog so religiously...I want to give a shout out to congratulate her on getting her PhD.  All of those nights of you studying and me not so much in college really panned out for you!  Love you and so proud of you:)
