Where do I begin...

With the way that I feel today I am not sure where to begin.  I had two events this weekend that were fun and tiring.  First, I ran the Windermere half marathon.  Before I tell you my results, I just want to set the scene.  It is a great course, nice and flat with a little riverfront park at the end.  As you know, the weather has just been strange this year and weirdly cool.  That is fine with me because I prefer to run when it is cool.  I was REALLY trying to break 2:30.  I have no idea why, but I have this goal in my head to break 2:30.  It is arbitrary but it is a goal to strive for.  Well my training has been great and I was on track to blow it away.  (you can probably see where this story is going...)  The morning of the race, we wake up and I knew we were in for it when at 7am I was only wearing a tank top and running pants.  As the race got underway, we were killing it and our split time was 1:10.  Then it got hot...really hot.  I saw two runners go down and the paramedics get called.  I was well hydrated but just hit the wall at mile 10.  Chris gave me some 5 hour energy that helped but it was bad.  My mom was sick with a cold and she was a hurting puppy.  Needless to say, I got 2:31 ARG!  One minute!  I was so excited because I cut 5 mins off my previous year's time and 2 minutes off my last 1/2 marathon time but I was soooo close!  Oh well next time right?!  *The official times were posted and I was officially 2:30:55!  Ok better but still want to get under 2:30!*

Amy flew in from LA to run her first for my bday!

After I finished, I went to find Amy to run in together!

Next, we celebrated my birthday that night with a little shin dig!  I wanted to wait and celebrate when Amy and Jadon were in town (they came in for the race).  It was a lot of fun but between being sore and wiped out from the run and drinking...it was an interesting combo!  We ate some great food, drank lemon drops and had great conversation.  It was really fun to have everyone there to celebrate: Terese and Adam, Katie, and SJK all came in town!  And the weather came in handy for the night time festivities:)
SJK flew in too!

We cleaned up ok!

You guys did awesome, and my goodness, especially with the weather against you...and everyone else running(except for peeps like charlie t. when nothing phases them because they are machines, haha!) So glad you were able to reach your goal! Your mom is in amazing shape for her age!!! I enjoyed watching everyone finish. Sorry we missed your shindig, but glad your best gals from Seattle & CA came up to celebrate with you. Xo
