We are so excited to unveil our new additions to the house. We finally got our basement couch (a VERY LONG story involving a store I will not shop in again). Of course it looks great thanks to Mattias, Chris' brother, who came over and took it apart to fit it in the basement! I was worried but when you put two very smart people together (Mattias and Chris) and some beer, good things happen!!! As for the living room, we have disliked carpet in there since we moved here. It is just too much of a high traffic area to have carpet for us, so we ripped it out and put in hardwood. We went to Walker's furniture (a MUCH better experience) and bought a couch, two over stuffed chairs, and an area rug (for cheap btw) to complete the look. (And they were delivered in one week to boot!) I love it because they look leather but they are microfiber so they are more kid proof! Now I have my semi-formal living room! Now on to the finishing touches!!!

I can't believe how fast it goes...Maggie aka Magpie, Maggie Moo, Schmoops is two months old today! Sometimes I feel like I had her yesterday (considering there is still a lot of snow on the ground it seems like December around here) and other times it seems like she has been here forever. We have been through a lot with her in her short life time but I wouldn't change anything for the world. She is my sweet baby girl and I love her dearly!

Binkies RIP

Well it has been an interesting week in the Herzog household. Chris and I have known for quite a while that it is time for the binkies to be gone but it was as much an addicition for me as it was for Matthew. (Not that I was using them but I would have Matthew use them to go to bed and generally be quiet!) Well we decided it was time and we got rid of them...every last one of them (Maggie doesn't seem to like them). Wow has it been difficult. I know it is for the best in the long run but Matthew has been struggling. He has been sleeping with us a bit, and has refused to take naps some days (I totally blame Chris for that...this was his big idea!) but he has done ok for the most part. He got a pretty sweet Thomas the train system so we keep reminding him of that when he cries for them. He is my big boy now! On to potty training...

Happy Valentine's Day!

We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day in the Herzog household (every day is Valentine's Day being married to Chris...rrriiiigggghhhhttt!!) Anyway, usually Matthew and I decorate cookies for Oma and Opa and make some homemade Valentines. Here are some pictures of the cookie decorating process. Matthew was so cute. He put a huge drop of frosting on the cookie, took a huge bite of frosting for himself, and then got sprinkles EVERYWHERE! It was ok though because he had a blast doing it. The finished product were cookies that I frosted (I secretly discarded the ones he did...a bit germy:)) All in all, it was a great time! Can't wait for Maggie to join in!

Home again, home again...

We went to Seattle to visit my family and so Chris could go to a dental meeting. It was really fun but it is nice to be home again. I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked but I am going to try and get the ones my sister took and then post them!

Thai Boy aka Bath time boys...

I swear our family has little sayings and words that we use with Matthew (and now Maggie.) One of them is Thai Boy which means bath time boys. I am not sure how this originated but we use it at night when it is time for a bath. Well now that Maggie has come along, I told Matthew that we needed something for her but he doesn't seem to care that she is not a boy! Anyway, here are some pictures of Maggie in and out of thai boy and you can see how curly her hair gets!! Crazy.
