Matthew didn't have school today so I decided we would have a "date". I am not a huge fan of the fair but I figured without Maggie it would be really fun (she went to Oma and Opa's). Besides, I know he would have a blast! Anyway, it was really fun. We saw the animals, watched the pig races (a favorite of us both!) and this year, he rode the rides! He got a temporary tatoo, we rode the mini train, we got mini doughnuts...all in all it was a great date! The more I go to the fair, the more I actually kind of like it:) Here are some highlights:

Matthew's Soccer! Go Bats:)
Thank you for everyone who has prayed and wondered about Maggie! She is doing so well. We had her follow up appointment today and her eyes are right on track with what her doctor wanted! Here is a cute picture of her when she fell asleep at the dinner table the other night:
Matthew has started soccer! He is on a U6 soccer team and their team name is the black bats:) This is the first year that he has played actual games. They are 3v3 and there is no goalie and we don't keep score. It is really fun to see them play. His coach is our good friend Richie Wells so that is really fun. I was really proud of him watching him play his first game. He did so well! Chris and I think he will be good at defense because he naturally wanted to go protect the goal when the other team got down there. We have met some really nice people and there are 3 Matthews on the team! It was cool because at one point they were the three players out there so we were yelling "Go team Matthews!!" Anway, I am having a great time being a soccer mom:)

Maggie's Surgery
Here is my poor noodle yesterday after she came home from her surgery. I have known for quite some time (about 6 months) that she would have to eventually have strabismus surgery on her eyes. Nothing quite prepares you for having to watch your child be wheeled back into the OR knowing she is going to have the muscles around her eyes cut into. She was pretty groggy after surgery and a little feisty, but then she sacked out for 4 hours when we got home. I was mostly worried about the recovery process, but sure enough she awoke this morning as spicy as ever being her normal Maggie self! Her eyes are still a bit bloodshot and she hates the drops I have to put in 3 times a day but other than that she is fine! A kind of funny/disturbing story: the anesthesiologist came out to tell us that after they had given her versed and laid her down, he went to put the mask on her to put her to sleep and she grabbed it out of his hand, said "I do it myself", put it on her mouth and laid down and fell asleep! WOW is all I can say to that!

Matt and Alex's wedding
For the final weekend (at least for a bit), Chris and I headed to Seattle (just the two of us!!) for the wedding of Matt and Alex. Chris went to dental school with Matt and has kept in great touch with him. We actually knew Alex before they started dating and they are just a wonderful couple. They live in Edmonds now where he is a dentist and she is a preschool teacher at my former grade school!!! It is nice because we can totally hang with them when we go visit my parents! I was very excited because their wedding was completely Greek Orthodox (Alex is Greek). I have never been to a wedding like it and it was so interesting. No traditional vows but all of the traditions of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". The priest would chant something then the cantor would respond in Greek. It was pretty cool. Then the reception was at the Seattle Tennis Club which was gorgeous! I don't get to see the dental school people very often and I often forget how much I love/miss them! We reminisce about the 4 years of hell we endured while our husbands were studying and we can always pick right back up where we left off the time before. There was PLENTY of partying and just letting go (the pictures tell the story:)) It was a quick trip (we flew) but a very nice time for just the two of us. Let's just say we had to have bloody mary's the next morning to be able to get on the plane...oops:) Hoopa to Matt and Alex!
